Grand Opening

On July 23, 2009 Milligan Bio-Tech and over 400 guests celebrated the grand opening of our Crushing and Bio-diesel facility.

 

Milligan Bio-Tech celebrated its grand opening on Thursday,July 23, 2009. Milligan was incorporated in 1996, and has grown significantly over the years.  We were proud to share such a monumental day with special guests, staff and board members.

The agenda for the day was busy, starting at 11:30am until 2:00pm, self guided tours were offered to five different locations.

Interesting facts learned at locations included:

  • In 2010, MBTI will require 30,000MT of non-food grade canola seed to produce 10,000,000L of Bio-diesel annually.
  • In 2012, the amount of oil seed needed moves to 450,000MT to produce 150,000,000 L of Bio-diesel annually.

An excellent lunch was also served by the local Swimming Pool Committee as a fundraiser. 

Opening Ceremonies began at 2 o'clock. We were honoured to have the following special guests speak to the crowd of over 400:

-         Honorable June Draude, MLA Kelvington-Wadena, Minister Responsible for Crown Investments

-         Ms. Maria Aubrey, Senior Vice President, Operations-Sustainable Development Technology Canada
-         Mr. Bob Johnson, Mayor- Town of Foam Lake
-         Mr. Chris Gislason, Reeve- RM of Foam Lake
-         Mr. John Hill, IMSM-ISO 9001:2008 certification presentation
-         Mr. Tyler Markusson, Foam Lake Marketing Club presentation to Milligan Bio-Tech
-         Mr. Zenneth Faye, Executive Manager, Milligan Bio-Tech

Also attending that day were three of Milligan's sponsored teams. 
Kevin Therres, with the World's First Bio-diesel Jet Truck, 'Prairie Gold';
Kevin Douglas, owner of the Diesel Performance Services 'Raminator', Bio-diesel Drag Truck; and Team Jordison Curling, 2009 Saskatchewan Tankard Champions. 

The evening banquet began with magic by Ben Parry followed by a delicious hometown Saskatchewan supper. 

Milligan Bio-Tech Executive Manager, Zenneth Faye, then shared with guests the Past/Present/Future of Milligan Bio-Tech. Speeches were made by Hon. June Draude, Hon. Bob Johnson and Mr. Glenn Helgason.   The evening concluded with entertainment by Martin Janovsky.

Milligan Bio-Tech would like to thank EVERYONE who helped to make our Grand Opening such a success. We look forward to continuing to grow and being a leader in the field of renewable energy in Canada.
